Closer look at the gusle motives.
Chapel on Lovćen
The church-chapel in Lovćen is dedicated to Saint Peter of Cetinje. It was located on Jezerski vrh. The chapel was built by Petar II Petrović Njegoš in 1845 in honor of his uncle. Njegoš had a wish to be buried there. During two world wars, it was demolished and rebuilt, and the final demolition of the chapel was in 1972, in order to free up space for the construction of a mausoleum.
Eagle
Eagles are bigger and stronger than other prey birds. Their exceptional vision allows them to spot potential prey from great distance. Eagle has meaningful place in our culture, regarded as ruler of heavenly heights, the only one who can conquer all. They appear on the coats of arms and flags of many countries as symbol of power and strength. On the gusle instrument eagle symbolizes freedom and it's frequently carved on the head of the instrument.
